From Carbon-based to Silicon-based: The Evolutionary Path of Future Life Revealed KellyOnTech

Last week, I had the privilege of attending a private board meeting of a personal health management system for the world’s top wealthy people. I brought up the concept of creating a truly digital self, thus realizing the transition from carbon-based life to silicon-based life and achieve immortality.

From Carbon-based to Silicon-based: The Evolutionary Path of Future Life Revealed KellyOnTech

The idea of typing in a piece of text and generating an AI avatar based on your past voice, video, and photo information is not strictly a true digital avatar. What makes each person unique is our birth, educational background, work experience, and the books we have read, the places we have been to, and the people/events we have experienced. All this shapes our personality, way of thinking, our ability to deal with things and problems, as well as our thoughts and feelings.

In the evaluation criteria of the world’s top wealthy people, each person is differentiated from others by the four aspects of assets:

  1. Core assets — our talent, ability, culture, ethnicity and religion
  2. Experiential assets — education, history of struggles (whether successful or not), and our thoughts
  3. Contributing assets — which charitable organizations we support usually reflects one’s core value, and one’s attitude toward core resources such as our connections and money, that is, the selection and redistribution of them.
  4. Financial assets — cash, real estate, businesses, jewelry, art, stocks, bonds, etc.

To create a true digital self, it is necessary to record, train and extend one-to-one from these four dimensions through AI technologies. If you are interested in creating your true digital avatar, you are welcome to communicate privately.

Brain-Computer Interface

One path to achieve the transition from carbon-based life to silicon-based life is the brain-computer interface.

Neuralink , the tech company co-founded by Elon Musk in 2016, has been on fire again. On May 25th, Neuralink announced on Twitter that it had received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to launch its first human clinical study. The company’s valuation has risen to $5 billion, up from about $2 billion two years ago.

The goal of Neuralink’s human trials is to eventually allow paralyzed patients to use computers or telephones solely through brain activity. The device implanted in the human body is about the size of a coin and includes multiple chips, a wireless battery and other electronic components.

In order to implant this device into the human brain, Neuralink has specially designed a surgical robot. After entering the brain, the device will extend 64 hair-thin connecting wires with 1,024 electrodes to record neural activity. The signals from the device are sent to the brain-computer interface (BCI) via Bluetooth and decoded by the BCI, allowing people to control the cursor on a screen or move a robotic limb, etc.

Musk once said that Neuralink will eventually enable “you to save and replay memories”, which in a sense means achieving immortality.
